The Terry Dress is that perfect blend of vintage charm and beachy comfort. I saw an photo of a lone towel dress in a vogue Scandinavia fashion magazine from the 60s and really wanted one just like it. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any information about it or anything like it. So I made a few adjustments and created a pattern so you and I can be comfy and cute after swimming.
With clean lines, an easy adjustable fit, and soft terry towelling that feels like a summer hug, this dress brings effortless fun to your handmade wardrobe. It’s flattering, functional, and surprisingly chic, whether you’re drying off by the pool or heading out for ice cream.
A standout feature? The bias tape finish. It gives the dress structure, a clean finish, avoids fraying, and the chance for you to become a true bias tape expert. (Don’t worry, the included video will guide you through it all!)
This pattern is beginner friendly, just the bias tape needs some patience. I do recommend using pre-made bias tape to keep things fun and easy! Making it yourself isn’t super difficult, but it does take a bit of time and patience.
What’s included:
A digital sewing pattern (you’ll receive a download link via email – check your spam just in case!)
Pattern files in A0, A4, and US Letter
Sizes XXS – XXL (all in one file) – unsure what size? → Size Guide
A beginner-friendly step-by-step video tutorial to make sewing along easy and fun
I added the the Hannah Pouch Pattern as a little gift, so that you can sew a cute pouch from the scraps (-:
